Double- sided Yoko Ono record and letter. Fabric and embroidery thread. This is for an upcoming group show in Japan. Artists were asked to make a portrait of, and write a letter to a living women hero.
I saw a handbill from a 1914 feminist meeting at a friend’s studio. Its subject read, “What does feminism mean to you?”
I’m interested in watching the process of feminism, rather then trying to locate it. I don’t believe I could locate it. I trust the sideways view. Assurance is unreliable.
The artists I find compelling are mostly women, and I decided to pay tribute to that. Many of these works are from a fictionalized past. From 1970 to 1980, Artforum devoted 5 of its 99 covers to women artists.
new “paintings” (embroidery on fabric) for my upcoming show at Krets Galleri in Malmo Sweden opening next month.
